Biography
Nikolaus von Peter is a European Union official working at the European Commission Representation in Berlin where he deals with Antisemitism and Jewish life, next to other fundamental rights issues. Before moving to Berlin, Nikolaus worked in the private office of the European Commissioner for mobility and transport and in other positions at the European Commission and in the German government. Recently, he gained practical experience with remembrance work when, together with video artist Bert Zander, he created a Shoah monument for the Commission’s premises in Berlin, which reminds visitors and Commission staff of the Shoah and of how fundamental it is for the European Union. Nikolaus is a lawyer by training and holds a German law degree from the University of Heidelberg, a maitrîse en droit from the University of Paris and a master of laws from the University of Cambridge.
