Founder and project manager of the Department for Research and Information on Antisemitism in Berlin, the Germany´s first reporting center for antisemitic incidents in Berlin, founded in 2015.

<p>Since its foundation in October 2018, the Bundesverband RIAS has built up a dense reporting network for antisemitic incidents in Germany. Currently, antisemitic incidents are recorded in 11 out of 16 federal states by regionally rooted civil society entities in a standardised, category-based and GDPR-compliant manner. The Bundesverband RIAS provides the multilingual reporting page (www.report-antisemitism.de ) as well as the database software. Its team trains the employees in the civil society organisations that act as reporting centres. Bundesverband RIAS aims to - empower persons affected by antisemitic incidents by empathically assessing their experience and arranging counselling services - standardise the manner civil society organisations record and analyse antisemitic incidents by working closely with Jewish community organisation, using the IHRA Working Definition of Antisemitism and engaging in critical dialogue on antisemitic hate crimes with law enforcement agencies.<br /></p>

Ulrich Unseld

Biography

Ulrich Unseld studied ethnology, psychology and sociology at the University of Augsburg. He has been working at the Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial for 12 years as an interface between the education department and the archives of the memorial. His responsibilities include training programs for multipliers, designing educational programs and modifying historical sources for educational work. In addition, he has long been involved with the topics of right-wing extremism and antisemitism at memorial sites and conducts research on the topic of music at Dachau Concentration Camp. Since 2018, Ulrich has also been curator of the European Holocaust Memorial in Landsberg am Lech.

Biography

Historian and psychologist, interested in the social and political history of the 20th century. Curator at the House of European History in Brussels, since 2016 involved in the development of the museum project. Before, she worked in the Museum of the Second World War in Gdańsk (2011-2016). Lead curator of the exhibition Fake for Real. A History of Forgery and Falsification (Brussels, 2020-2022). Author of 'Everyday Life in the Shadow of Terror. German Occupation in Poland 1939-1945' (Gdańsk 2015) and 'Lęk i strach. Warszawiacy wobec zagrożeń Września 1939 r.' [Fear and Anxiety: Civilian Population of Warsaw in September 1939] (Warsaw 2009). Member of the Memory Studies Association and the Polish Oral History Association.
